Greetings my Lord

Its wth sadness that we receive your response and hear the latest reports of fighting between you and the Africans.

Who shoot first or did what is basicly irrilevant. There are at the end of the day no moral conclusion to be made, just a balance of power. The facts remain:

1. House Hispania made a preemptive strike or attack depending on view point.
2. Severus and Baetica is in Hispanic hands
3. The Africans are effectively eliminated as a House to be reakonened with, in particular if only left with Mauretania.

We understand why the Africans are not accepting your peace plan to be left with the small island of Mauretania, robbed of their senators, and their homeworld.

We, together with the Gauls and the Dalmatians, outlined a fair peace deal, in which the Africans by ceding Baetica, would be given a chance to play a long term role in the galaxy.
Thereby effectively accepting the fairness of your control over Baetica and an indirect recognition of your claims of foul play.

Apparently you have modified this peace plan into something that effectively annihilates the Africans and thereby you are using the same means as the you accuse the small African House of using against you.

Unless The Africans are restored control over Severus and Mauretania, you give us no choice but to take our precautions and prepare against a very large Hispanic empire.
You should not underestimate our combined ability and willingness to enforce an appropiate response and once more restore a balance to the galaxy.

However we hope that the recognition of Hispanic supremacy over Baetica shows our great respect for your House and you therefore will accept the peace plan.

We hope for a quick answer as to your agreement to the publicly known terms.

Sincerely

Zcar Valentinium

Greetings Leaders of the Known Worlds,

In our defense, Lord Gildo sent war ships over our home world and demanded ownership of Baetica.

It was never our intention to annihalate him. Only to remove the threat from our southern borders.
The Hazat now own Severus. There appears to be no resistance what so ever.

We am willing to grant safe passage to Mauretania of all remaining military units and supplies from Severus or Baetica.
Futhermore, we are willing to with hold our spies from attacking you, Lord Gildo, or any other Lord/Lady on BZII.
We will grant you or the appointed proxy our votes for the next two elections.
We will use our forces to cross Africa and to attack the Barbarians in Egypt or Persia.

Please consider hostilities officially ended. We shall see if Lord Gildo agrees by removing his units from Baetica this turn.

Diplomatic Statement:

Greetings Lord Haradak.

Its with worry and sadness that we, the Gauls, the Dalmatians and the Noricums, hear about the on-going war between you and the Africans. We understand it that there has been some dispute over the control of Beatica and that a war has now broken out.

To secure a future presense of the Africans in the galaxy we have decided on the folllowing peace terms.

1. Hispanic forces over Severus or Mauretania will be withdrawn immidiately and control over farms, other captured cities and any captured senators will be returned immidiately to African control on these planets.
2. Similarly Africa will give control of cities on Beatica to the Hispanics and subsequently withdraw all forces from the planet.
3. Beatica is then under full Hispanic control.
4. Once the above is completed House Africa and House Hispania should sign a peace treaty.

We hope that the above is also to your satisfaction. However should you not comply with the above terms of peace and continue the war, and thereby seek to annihilate the Africans, you will face a full scale war from all four houses and their respective ministries.

However we hope that the acknowledgement of Hispanic supremacy over Baetica will make such an occurence very unlikely and that we one again can concentrate on the ongoing struggle with the Barbarians.

We hope for a quick answer as to your agreement to the above terms.

Finally the agreement of the Africans to the above terms has been secured.

Sincerely

Lady Mitchell, Commander Deathifier and Zcar Valentinium.

We have a Breaking news story from our reporter and galizter price winner Stan Curiosus on B2, Over to you Stan...

This is Stan Curiosus reporting from the Imperial Fleets starport on Byzantium 2: "Rumour has it that a new diplomatic initiative is underway and that within the coming hours a statement will issued concerning the attack on the contested system Beatia and African Homeworld Severus. Sources within an unnamed house reports this evening to the GNN that the statement will take into consideration both involved parties, but that it still contains some very certain conditions to avoid a total galactic war between the Houses"

"Perhaps related to this, I can also report that a certain fever has arrived here at B2. A new energy has arrived here among the Imperial Fleet. People going about their business, busily as if the Fleet is preparing to leave. Old ships being brought to spacedock and refitted. Old hands whisper of a new Regent, that thinks the Fleet should seek out the Barbarians rather then just waiting indefinetly. As we all know the Barbarians have recently taken cities at Armenia and Thracia, both very strategic systems. I will return as soon as we know more."

"This is Stan Curiosus reporting from B2, over to you Lou....."

I am not liking this situation at all, very bad for galactic prosperity...
While Baetica is indeed a strategic world in light of the Hispanics position it does NOT justify an assault on the African homeworld.
This will be looked into immedately.

House Decados is long known for it's treachery.

When they made their demands for Baetica, a planet we both inhabited and both held justifiable claim, we knew they only wanted a safe base to launch their future assaults against House Hazat.

The strategic significance of that world is obvious. Sharing was an option before they demanded absolute control.

Our House has a long history of being the best fighters in the known worlds. We will not simply give away a key strategic position to House Decados, known for their long history of treachery and deceit.
(Read up on the Houses - Remember, we are role playing)

Lord Hadarak, The Brave.

Posted by House Hispania @ 07:20 PM AEST

To all the house leaders, I send you a warning. Do not trust Lord Hadarak!

Lord Hadarak has always spoken words of peace with us. We have been kind, providing him with gifts of technology and food on Byzantium Secundus in exchange for an agreed transfer of the planet Baetica. But while portions of our fleet were away delivering food to Byzantium Secunds; food that was shared to those in need free of charge, Not just Lord Hadarak; he instead refused to follow his end of the exchange and launched a sneak attack with a fleet that was traveling through our systems under a flag of truce.

I write this letter from my palace on Severus, looking out at the wreckage and cities in the distance that have fallen to Hadarak's forces. Most of our troops were away, securing territory needed for the war against the barbarians. They have been recalled, but they will most likely be too late.

We will prosecute a war against House Hispania with the forces we have, and do what we can to make them pay for their treachery. But the chances of House Africa remaining a true power is vanishingly small. We leave to you this warning, that Hadarak cannot be trusted.

House Hazat has decalred WAR on House Decados.

Elite units of the Hazat main battle group have engaged and destroyed the Starbase
over Severus. Troop transports dropped tanks and supporting personnel over night in
a lightning raid reported to have captured over 10 cities.

Losses are reported to include all planetary defense systems, the shield complex, and all research
facilities.

The Palace remains in House Decados control.

All battle reports confirm a lightning quick attack with almost no resistence.

Counter attacks are expected but have not yet materialized.

The recent years have seen problem upon problem descend upon the Dalmation homeworld of Istakhr.
7 years ago the church made good on its promise to send the inquisition to my worlds. 2 mighty fleets were spotted jumping into Macedonia in 4968 and yet it was 2 more years before something would appear over Istakhr. In 4970 the church fleet arrived over Istakhr, consisting of a total of 14 ships most of which were destroyers in addition to 5 drop ships - but only three were carrying inquisitors.

Seeing such a vast number of ships the Dalmatian Space Fleet retreated to a safe island and transports rapidly moved as many troops as possible down to protect the labs. Plans were drawn up to attempt to minimise troop losses and lab losses and troops were readied for the comming attack.
In 4971 the church landed and attacked. Due to the amazingly poor commanders of church inquisition forces only 2 inquisitors were involved in actual combat however they did manage to overrun a lab, only to be destroyed the next year by a counter attack. Out in space it had been discovered that the main church fleet had moved on, leaving a loaded transport and a couple of warships to guard it. Seeing the oportunity the Dalmatian Fleet moved in and successfully destroyed the church ships without suffering much damage in return.

Now having done all that one could believe they were free to relax at least briefly, but that was not the case. In 4972 the 'unaccounted for' inquisitors appeared. This time the lab defences successfully repelled them while takeing heavy casualties and again the next year troops moved to finish the inquisitors off. Unfortunately the next year league forces, which had been kindly skirting the edge of my base (presumably heading to a ruins in the southern part of the continent) attacked a lab. The assigned defences were still a year away from arriving, and the solitary infantry legion - while highly trained - could not stand up to repeated assaults from league forces.

But it wasn't enough to just capture the lab, no... the league had to raze it! And whats more, the inquisition took credit for the razing!! An Outraged Commander Deathifier ordered swift strikes against all known league positions. The Mobile army moved swiftly to destroy the nearby agora and sieze its contents before moving down to a league controlled well where they confronted a number of enemy defenders and successfully obliterated them. In both these battles there were no league survivors, and upon capturing the well our forces were pleasantly supprised to find a number of transports and destroyers landed inside. On the oceans, where there is known to be a sizeable league fleet, the Dalmatian fleet exploring nearby moved quickly towards the well (last known league fleet position) and sunk a transport, as yet no sightings of other league ships or subs has been reported.

The church and league shall pay dearly for the problems they have caused.

Flames of impossibly hot fire reached down from the sky, tearing the Church fortifications to pieces. Laser fire from the starbase over our ancient home world rained fire down on the defenders night after night.

When the fire stopped, tanks reinforced with mechanized infantry and infantry legions marched on the bewildered defenders. The Church forces would not fall easily. They manned what few fortified positions remained and sent forth the inquisitors in mass.

The melee was bloody, but the forces of Lord Hadarak were victorious. The destruction of Fort Barcelona leaves the Chruch and supporting cities open to future attacks from land and space.

The Rebels, sensing an opportunity to strike, positioned a force outside the fallen fortress, forcing Lord Hadarak to take defensive positions instead of pressing the advantage.

The Rebels may allow the Church a turn to regroup?

The year of 4962 saw a further escalation of war.

The leugue has now gone to war with House Noricum and House Gaul.

We have yet to receive official statements to the reason for these wars, but our correspondent Stan Curiosus who has just returned from Leugueheim and can tell the dramatic tale final minutes of the Noricum DD HZS Sitting Duck

Stan Curiosus: "Well we were leaving Leugueheim as the fighting was picking up betwenn the Leugue and the Church down on the ground. We had just gone into orbit and we actually wondering what that The Noricum DD Sitting Duck was doing above Leugueheim now there on it second year. Suddenly our radar detection and singularuty engine detectors started beebing. Moreover we were suddenly aware that multiple weapon systems were targeting us as the warning sensors started howling at us!"

"From the planet a massive armada was entering space, we think it was at least 8 squadrons of Tie-Fighters, Some Corvīs, a few DDīs, 4 Cruisers and even 2 of the Massive Victor class Cruisers. All fastly moving towards the Sitting Duck The Noricum DD tried to spin up its singularity engine to reach the jump point, but the Leugue armada was simply to fast for it and it exploded into silent a blaze of flames"

These were the words of our correspondent Stan Curiosus. We have no knowledge to explain the attack of the Leugue on the Noricum DD the Sitting Duck
In other news a War has also broken out between the House Hispania and House Dalmatia and the Barbarians are once more on the march having taken cities even on Armenia.

UPDATE: Information has come in that the war between Hispania and Dalmatia has ended, they have informed all major political parties that it was caused during a resource transer and peace has now been restored.

We of House Dalmatia support the honourable and wise Zcar Valentinium of Noricum in his pledge for regency. Being very close neighbours we too are under threat by the barbarian invaders and it is important that we form a united front to drive them out of the worlds they have invaded and to take steps to prevent further invasion.
Noricum has shown in their recent dealings with the treacherous League and not-so-holy church that they are capable of mounting multiple simultaneous campaigns and comming out victorious. Such qualities are a necessessity of a Regent who will guide our tactics and lead us into combat.
Henceforth House Dalmatia will pledge their votes and house military forces to Noricum, may we see a swift and decisive victory over the barbarian scum.

While the galaxy has erupted in war lately, House Africa has had the good fortune of remaining untouched and at peace. Our worlds also have the luck of being on the diametrically opposite side of the galaxy from the barbarian incursion, and so our people breathe a sigh of relief for now.

Of course, we already make plans to aid the houses involved in the fighting, whenever we are not celebrating our good fortune in the local taverns. We know that no amount of distance will protect us, should the other houses fail to drive the barbarians off.

In order to do what I, as leader of House Africa, can do to help the other houses from House Africa's sheltered location, I have decided to seek the ministry of either the Imperial Fleet or the Stigmata Garrison. It is my belief that, should a house threatened by the barbarians win control of either of these ministries, they may feel the need to use its resources to safeguard his own house first, and the rest of the galaxy later. House Africa has no need of such protection, and I would use the ministry to protect the Empire, and all it's houses, and to help drive off the barbarians.

Make no mistake, though, I do not seek the regency. The regent of the Empire should not rule from some sheltered, comfortable planet; he should be one who fights the barbarians and knows intimately what the empire faces. For this reason I support Valentinium of House Noricum as the Imperial Regent. Delphi, his homeworld, lies only a single jump from the barbarian forces on Germania. By all accounts, his house will soon be battling for it's very existence, and who better to lead the galaxy while it does the same? So he has the votes of House Africa, should he be willing to meet our reasonable wishes as far as a ministry.

We also urge all the houses to give their support to Valentinium. Now, of all times, we must leave behind the infighting of the past to present one united front.

Gildo, Lord of House Africa

Official Statement regarding the recent declaration of War on House Noricum by the Leugue:

The Leugue pose as merchants but in reality they are thiefīs. The reason for the declaration of war is simply a matter of petty stealing. Last year we had purchased the insignificant amount of 35 electronicīs from the Leugue. This cargo convoy was being moved towards Noricum factories. On the final leg of that years travel the convoy moves next to two Leugue Heavy Artillery. This year 4962 the Leugue steals the Electronics and to make matters even worse they totally unprovoked shoot down our beloved Destroyer the DD HZS Sitting Duck that was on a land leave at Leugueheim. All hands on board are reported lost.

Accordingly Noricum forces have retributed decisively against this unprovoked attack and eradicated all known leugue positions on Delphi, suffering medium losses. We hope that Leugue attacks will be stopped with that, but we can assure the galaxy that the Leugue has just begun to fell the wraith of House Noricum once we are prepared.

Moreover it has been decided, by our enlighted leader Zcar Valentinium, that no foreign forces are allowed on Delphi, since they their presence seems only to spark war. Consequently we have moved against Church positions and can report that despite suffering heavy losses, that the Church is now in Noricum possession.

House Noricum will eventually have their revenge on the thiefīs from Leugueheim, but we are even more worried by the recent attacks by the barbarians on peaceloving cities on the planets of Armenia, Moesia, Barbaricum and Sarmantia.

Our best wishes goes to our friends in the Houses Gaul and Dalmantia who also face the task of fighting the Barbarians standing outside their gates, while at the same time being at war with the Church and/or the Leugue.

We hope that House Africa and House Hispania will soon join in us all in the quest to rid the galaxy of gready thiefs from Leugueheim and the agressive Church that attacks unprovoked.

However an even greater threat stands before all of us, a threat to our lives, yes even our very existense: The Barbarians.

We must make sure that the Barbarian invasion is contained. The Armenia Kingdom must be preserved and the Imperial Fleet and Imperial Frontier must not later then the year 4975 make decisive moves to contain the Barbarian invasion.

House Noricum hereby declares their candidacy for the Regency in the election year 4975. We hope that all Houses will rest assured that in accordance with the agreements reached with our friends and allies that the Ministries will be used primarialy to combat the Barbarian threat. We hope that the Houses not being alloted a Ministry will let this pass peacefully with the show of will from the minestry holders to combat the Barbarians. Rest assured that this regency in close coordination with its allies will make sure that the Barbarian threat is contained.

Official Announcement regarding the recent delcaration of War on our house by the Church:
As you all know by now the Church recently declared war upon my house. I now have all the information regarding what happened and what relatatory action was taken.
For an unknown reason the church attacked a scouting Dalmatia submarine in the Oceans of Byzantium 2 (B2), the two church submarines were defeated with moderate damage to the submarine. Why the church attacked the harmless submarine, which was far from the church fleet upon B2, is unknown and they have not responded to our questions.
As a matter of retaliation a mixed army of troops were hastily called from various areas to rally near the church complex upon Istakhr and shortly after a full scale assault was launched. The assault claimed the lives of 4 of my troops and destroyed a mobile artillery unit while the church lost 3 troops with the remaining Auxillia and Inquisitor forces retreating. Shortly after an Assassin caught the fleeing troops who, after being informed of the church attrocities, agreed to join my house.
There is one more church held position upon Istakhr and an even larger force is even now slowly moving towards it - should the church fail to explain their actions it will be attacked and taken.
I will not tollerate cowardly attacks upon harmless units and am appaled at the churchs tactics.

In the year of 4961 war is breaking out seemingly everywhere.
The League has gone to war with the rebels for no aparent reason and the Church has declared war upon House Dalmatia - also for no aparent reason. We have reports from reliable sources that say the Church and the League, the two most powerful non-house organisations, have gone to war!
It is not yet known who was responsible for starting the war, or their reasons why, however we do know that fleets belong to both organisations above LeagueHeim and possibly Roma clashed and almost mutually anihilated each other.
While we have no reporters on the ground of either planets there is likely to be widespread fighting between the establishments of both houses.

We'll bring you more news on this conflict as information becomes available.

Posted by Byzantium News @ 04:57 PM AEST

Rebel forces upon the planet Istakhr took significant losses recently as combined forces from the Dalmatia military swept over the rebel held mine and it's guards with no losses or damage.
This follows the partial victory from an ambush last year where 2 Auxillia and a Heavy Artillery were assaulted as they moved through a previously unexplored area. The Auxillia were ruthlessly murdered and the Artilery heavily damaged before the rebels were turned back.

Our house hopes that the remaining rebels will turn over their remaining well peacefully and rejoin with our great house so that we can focus on halting the spreading barbarian hordes and not petty infighting.
